The Triptych of the Nativity, also called altarpiece or nativity scene, is one of the most emblematic pieces of the Alberto Sampaio Museum, classified as a National Treasure.
It was offered by D. João I to Santa Maria da Oliveira, as a token of gratitude for the victory achieved in the Battle of Aljubarrota. We are, therefore, witnessing an historic and dazzling votive offering.
