“Tongobriga: a collection of studies commemorating 40 years of research” gathers a set of thirteen contributions from sixteen authors who, grouped into three categories (“Scientific Research”, “Professional Training” and “Cultural Mediation”), celebrate the main services that the Regional Directorate of Northern Culture has set-up in the Archaeological Area of Freixo (Marco de Canaveses), classified as a National Monument since 1986.

Four decades have passed since the initial research that prompted and justified the development of the other two categories began, the contributions gathered here are naturally focused on the most recent years and take on different forms and distinct contents: from the historical summary to the future prospects, from the lived experience to the projection of distant horizons, from the exhibitive discourse to the expressiveness of the image, from the report on what has been done to the desire to surpass that which is still to come.
